The deadline is this Friday, February 7 for residents to apply to be a part of a series of summer performances along "The Artery," a trail and recreational space that will connect the Riverwest and Harambee neighborhoods.
The Greater Milwaukee Committee (GMC), ART Milwaukee and beintween are utilizing $40,000 in grant funding to expand the idea of the outdoor stage in the summer of 2014. The Artery is accepting submissions up until this Friday at 5:00 p.m., and Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs encourages residents to apply.
Cash rewards of $500 will be awarded to the 20 selected individuals or groups that will be performing, along with a pool of $1,500 in funding to aid in the production or documentation of each performance.
The Artery will serve as an outdoor stage to help connect neighbors and create a community through art and performance. Performance ideas can be anything and everything, as long as they encourage and engage safety, comfort and community amongst attendees.
As Kid President says, "What will you create to make the world more awesome?"
