Outcomes!

Let's extend our gratitude to Alderwoman Coggs for chairing our Block Club meeting. Also present was Lt Jackson and many officers.

We covered the proposed Malcolm's Lounge up for licensing on Oct. 17th. All who would like to speak are asked to send an email to groverheights@gmail.com and inform us so that we can discuss the order of presentation. We would like for everyone who opposes the establishment of the lounge to sign a petition stating your opposition by Sunday Evening.
You are also encouraged to attend the hearing set for 2:30 on October the 17th.

Alderwoman Coggs mentioned the following activities. First, the NDIC is awarding $3000 grants for neighborhood improvement projects. In addition, she is hosting a housing resource fair, Saturday, October 15th, from 10AM to 2PM. Organization will provide information about home improvement funds, rehab funds, and how to avoid foreclosure. The final project she mentioned is the Garden Competition that ends Oct. 17th, 2011.

Lt. Jackson passed out the following pamphlets: Deadbolts, Home Security, Identifying suspicious behavior, Crime prevention, and Neighborhood Watch. These pamphlets mention many techniques of burglar proofing your home. Read the neighborhood newsletter for more information.

Thanks to our distribution crew for passing out notices:  Betty, Elsie, Reggie, Shirley.
Thanks to Asst. Pastor B. Smith of Westside MBC for refreshments.

Our next meeting is scheduled for the second week of November. Stay tuned for more information.

New Members

Hello everyone,

We have added five new members to the block club. They are excited and already working hard. Please look for our next meeting the second week of October to discuss neighborhood issues, meet new members, and sign up for committees.

We have two new committees to consider: political action and the research and communication. We already have volunteers to head those committees. Your input and action is needed.

We would also like to recognize any new neighbors to the area.
