Minutes 11/14/11

Our meeting was a huge success. County Supervisor Johnson covered the his role, service through various committees and community organizations, and aspects of the budget. He is also looking into other issues for the group.

He is hosting three informational sessions on the budget in the upcoming weeks. Grover Heights is invited. The next is Nov 21st at Clinton Rose Center on King and Burleigh.

Lt. Jackson and Officers (Caceres, Howard, Smith) provided information on burglar proofing the neighborhood and ways to prevent vehicle theft. They also took information about various issues and will provide follow-up.

Also, check into the home rehab services. There is funding available to fix up homes in the area and for those who have renters. One of the programs also looks at providing funds to homeowners who have a vacant home next to them. This money can be used to upgrade the landscaping to draw in a homeowner.

Thanks to the distribution crew:  Betty, Shirley, Elsie, Reggie.

Thanks to Assistant Pastor B. Smith of Westside MBC for refreshements.

Our next meeting is Wed. Dec, 14th, 2011 at Atkinson Library, 6PM.

New Members

Hello everyone,

We have added five new members to the block club. They are excited and already working hard. Please look for our next meeting the second week of October to discuss neighborhood issues, meet new members, and sign up for committees.

We have two new committees to consider: political action and the research and communication. We already have volunteers to head those committees. Your input and action is needed.

We would also like to recognize any new neighbors to the area.
