Creative Placemaking Update
Dear friends,

As we shared last month, you are receiving this email because you are part of a diverse network of people interested and invested in the arts and community development. 

Greater Milwaukee Committee, Riverworks Development Corporation, the City of Milwaukee, and MKE-LAX continue to work collaboratively on a series of creative placemaking initiatives in Milwaukee and this is an update with some upcoming events. 

LIFTED! Community Meal on the Beerline Trail Extension

LIFTED! is the third in a series of community meal events on the Beerline Trail Extension. Join us for a hearty brunch this Saturday, October 24th, from 11am-2pm, on the Trail entrance at Keefe & Richards. If it rains, the event will be held at the Goat Palace at 3740 N. Fratney Street. The event is free and open to all ages.

This event will feature:
  • FREE Brunch Buffet 
  • All Peoples Church Gospel Choir
  • Inspirational Poets, Rappers, and Vocalists
  • Crafts and Games for kids of all ages
  • Inspirational Videos (speeches, music, performance)
  • Open Mic (list opens at noon, performances at 1pm---musicians, praise dancers, gospel rap, poets, storytellers and more...come one come all to share your gifts with the people! 
Unveiling of New Mural

You are cordially invited to the Unveiling and Celebration of a new mural in Harambee, titled "Milwaukee Superheroes" by Jasmine West and Riverworks Development Corporation. The unveiling will take place on November 1st at 3pm at the Tot Lot on 1st and Keefe (117 E Keefe Ave).

  • The Big Finale: A community celebration including interactive activities. Thursday, October 29 from 5-7pm
The Spot 4MKE is a creative placemaking project at the corner of 5th & Wisconsin, directed by Creative Alliance Milwaukee. Concrete Dreamers is a residency project by Mikal Floyd-Pruitt and Fonde Bridges at The Spot 4MKE.

5pna meetings for the rest of the year












A nonprofit neighborhood association formed to improve the quality of the lives of the individuals who reside in, between, and adjacent to the 5 points area. Major streets include Martin Luther King Jr. Dr, Port Washington, Keefe to Holton St, Atkinson, 7th, north to Hampton, south to North Avenue, and West to 25th. Find out this and other important neighborhood and life matters at upcoming association meetings. Open to all homeowners, residents, landlords, and businesses.


Also know that on Monday, we will also break into groups on Monday and invest some time into identifying strategies to building community and becoming laser focused.

MPD will attend for personal crisis intervention; however, we request that as many residents, property owners, businesses, representatives, officials, developers, etc come to contribute.

Bring a neighbor,friend, landlord, and interested person.

We can cause  change and development.  Your help and desire is needed to have a great neighborhood and community.

Date/Time: Third Monday of the each month, 6 – 7: 30 PM
October 19th, 2015 (invited Alderwoman Coggs), November 16th, 2015, and December 21st, 2015

 1. We must work together to manage our Neighborhoods.
2. Quiet Zones from 8pm until 8am
3. Keep Porch Lights on from dark to sunrise
4. Watch out for activity around vacant and abandoned houses and keep your house area clean of debris, paper, trash, bottle, cans, etc.

ATTENTION vehicle owners!!
If you own a 2007 or older Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth, or Honda, AND you live in Milwaukee Police District Five, you may come in to the district station (2920 N 4th St) Monday - Friday, 9 am - 6 pm and ask for someone from the Community Liaison or Community Prosecution unit. We will give you a free wheel lock device for your vehicle (limit two per household) This
 acts as a great visible deterrent to would be thieves!
