Winter Parking Restrictions 2012

Please note that winter parking restrictions have gone into effect.  All heavily trafficked streets like 7th heading North are to have their cars moved.  You may not park over night on the street on 7th.

To verify, you may check the city website for parking restrictions.

Winter Parking Regulations Begin Saturday, December 1st

Regulations in effect December 1, 2012 – March 1, 2013

Winter parking regulations for the City of Milwaukee take effect this Saturday, December 1

st, 2012 and remain in effect through Friday, March 1, 2013.

During this winter period, most residential streets require alternate side night parking, but there are exceptions to the rule. For example, overnight parking is prohibited on major arterial streets and bus routes. These streets are not posted "no overnight parking."

Additionally, some streets on the east side and near south side that usually allow for overnight parking on both sides of the street for most of the year, now require residents to park on alternate sides of the street overnight December 1 to March 1.

Check for posted signs first for winter parking regulations on those streets where you plan to park, or click on http://mpw.milwaukee.gov/services/parking_regs.

If there are no posted signs, go to http://mpw.milwaukee.gov/services/winterregs for more information, or call (414) 286-CITY (2489) – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Department of Public Works offers a text message alert system called

Snow Mobile-Winter Text Alert, which informs subscribers when the City declares a snow emergency or when the "4-inch rule" goes into effect. Sign up for this alert at www.milwaukee.gov/mpw - look for this logo:

Prefer an email message? Sign up through E-Notify at www.milwaukee.gov/mpw to receive an email when a snow emergency is declared.

The Department of Public Works encourages City residents to follow the winter parking regulations, which will help our crews remove snow effectively, efficiently, and safely this winter season.
