Description:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This job description should not be interpreted as all inclusive. It is intended to identify the essential functions and requirements of this position. The incumbents may be directed to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated in this job description.

• Recruits, screens and selects volunteers for all departments, programs and events including but not limited to the Community Meal Program, Food Pantry and various seasonal programs (eg. Coats for Kids, Christmas Toy Store/Toys for Tots, Adopt a Family, holiday community meals, holiday meal distribution, food and hygiene drives) which implement the mission of The Salvation Army.
• Recruits and schedules individual volunteers and volunteer groups to ring bells for the Red Kettle Campaign. Promotes use of Ring Bells.org and other approved approaches to recruiting bell ringers.
• Schedules volunteers to ensure adequate and appropriate support for departments, programs and events.
• Ensures compliance with Central Territory Volunteer and Safe from Harm background screening and policies, and with the Divisional Background Check policy.
• Coordinates, trains, supervises, monitors and evaluates the work performance of volunteer staff. Ensures volunteers are supported in their roles and have the tools and supplies they need to complete their job assignments.
• Develops guidelines for the operation of the volunteer resources program in coordination with the Divisional Volunteer office, including forms, standards, policies and procedures, etc.
• Prepares position description for the volunteer positions and enters them into database.
• Works with social, civic, local organizations and educational agencies to develop partnerships where appropriate to develop and/or use volunteers. Makes presentations to groups to recruit volunteers. Works with Oshkosh media outlets to promote volunteer opportunities.
• Maintains updated paper and electronic records on all volunteers, including volunteer hours. Compiles and reports statistics related to volunteer activity.
• Completes verification of hours paperwork for volunteers and/or community service workers.
• Maintains updates to the Corps website of all information, including the volunteer program, ensuring a functioning link to the volunteer database.
• Recommends and develops ongoing practices for use of volunteers. Promotes the importance of volunteers and volunteer opportunities for staff.
• Plans and implements volunteer recognition events and activities.
• Works with Corps Officers and staff to coordinate, plan, recruit and execute all functions of events held at or by the Corps including arranging for locations, meals, volunteers, public relations, etc.


Required Experience:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Work well with various age and socio-economic groups. Respect and honor cultural and human diversity.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including public speaking.
• Strong skills in planning, organization and time management.
• Understanding and appreciation of the role of volunteers.
• Ability to uphold the Christian standards and ministries of The Salvation Army in all areas of job responsibilities.
• Possess a high level of self-motivation, creativity, delegation, group leadership skills in a spirit of cooperation and Christian service.
• Computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Internet, email and database knowledge.
• Complete Safe from Harm training and become a Safe from Harm trainer.
• Familiarity with businesses and civic organizations.
• Membership or certification with a professional volunteer organization required.


Required Education:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or equivalent. Two year associate degree or more education preferred.
• Two years experience in volunteer coordination.
OR
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
• Valid Wisconsin Driver’s license and proof of insurance.
• Obtain and maintain clearance to drive Salvation Army vehicles through the Salvation Army’s insurance carrier
