In addition, Betty and Elsie presented the following resolution to State Rep. Elizabeth Coggs for her service to our community which was accepted by a representative on her behalf.

•A RESOLUTION COMMENDING STATE REPRESENTATIVE ELIZABETH COGGS
FOR OVER 24 YEARS OF SERVICE TO HER COMMUNITY AND CONSTITUENTS
•Whereas,
Representative Elizabeth Coggs has rendered
efficient, faithful, and invaluable service to the citizens of Milwaukee and
the State of Wisconsin for over 24 years; and
•Whereas,
Representative Elizabeth Coggs has served on the
Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors from 1988-2010 as county supervisor for
the 10th
District and is recognized as the longest elected and serving board member; and
•
Whereas, Representative Elizabeth Coggs SR22,1,1has faithfully served
the city of Milwaukee and state of Wisconsin from 2010 until 2012 as a member
of the assembly and pushed forth legislation in record time to help improve the
quality of life, such as the American Jobs Act; and
• SR22,1,4Whereas,
Representative Elizabeth Coggs , SR22,1,7as a
member of the Wisconsin State Assembly currently serves on the following
Assembly Standing Committees: Housing, Consumer Protection and Personal
Privacy, Urban and Local Affairs, and on Transportation; and
•Whereas,
Representative Elizabeth Coggs has devoted her life
to fighting for civil rights, fair housing, excellence in education, quality
health care, and the overall enjoyment of life; and
•Whereas,
Representative Elizabeth Coggs is creator and
founder of the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Back to School Festival, a
member of the NAACP, Milwaukee Urban League Guild, King Advisory Inc,
vice-chair of the Greater Holy Temple Academy Bd,
and Abundant Life Ministry; and
•Whereas,
Representative Elizabeth Coggs has been a member
and supporter of programs such as the House Of Peace, Vision for Vliet, and the Wisconsin
State PTA; and
•Whereas,
Representative Elizabeth Coggs carries on her
political greatness through devotion to her church Holy Redeemer Church of God
in Christ and her community as demonstrated through the various community
awards she has received such as but not limited to Combined Community Service
Board Ten Year Chairwoman’s Award 2010; King Team and Friends of the the King Community
Service Board A True Friend of the Community Award 2010; Milwaukee County Parks
Special Recognition 2008; Career Youth Development M.C. Image Award 2007, and
many others; and
Whereas,
Representative Elizabeth Coggs has read the emails,
attended and sent representatives to address the needs of her constituents in
their individual block club meetings and is considered a tireless advocate of
the citizens she represents:
•NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENTS, BOARDS, MEMBERS, AND PASTOR of the
Grover Heights NBC, Williamsburg Triangle NBC, and Grace Fellowship Church
commend State Representative Elizabeth Coggs for her dedicated years of service to the community and
constant vigilance of the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness.

There was a brief formal question and answer period followed by a meet and greet which allowed and individuals to express some concerns to the representatives face to face.
Those in attendance were Senior Advisor Shirley Ellis, Senator Lena Taylor, Representative Sandy Pasch, Executive Assistant Akuwa Dantzler (Alderwoman Coggs), Michael Loughran from the DPW (Commissioner Ghassan Korban), Deputy Inspector Aisha Barkow from the County Sheriff's office and Cpt Anthony Moffett from the County Sheriff's Office, Lt. Wurth (Chief Flynn), Officer Osiewalski community liaison and also rep (Cpt Gordon), Bree Spencer from Safe and Sound, and Mr. Conyers from the Milwaukee Times. Due to scheduling conflicts the following officials called and sent messages for the group to read (Gov. Scott Walker, Mayor Tom Barrett, and Sen. Tammy Baldwin).
We would like to thank Elsie for her hard work in communicating with the officials and putting the program together. We would also like to thank Mr. Sims for his helping to communicate with officials.
