January meeting, 2013

Please note that our next block club  meeting is  Saturday, January 19th, 2013 from 10-12 noon at Grace Fellowship, 3879 N. Port Washington Avenue.  The group is asked to attend as the third Monday is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and we trust that you will participate in activities in the city.  Should the need arise to contact us prior to the meeting, please call or email and we will help to get your concern addressed.
We would also like the seniors in the area to remember that Dave, Derrick, Wayne, and TJ are willing to help with shoveling needs.
Seminar In Focus

The need for training in outreach continues to be one of the critical needs within grass root communities. Pro-active outreach initiatives require effective teams and team members. This all comes as a byproduct of shared vision, values and quality leadership. It is not that these urban communities do not have leaders, teams, but rather that these communities have a greater disproportion of social issues and the existing organizational frameworks are overwhelmed. In order to maintain and to turn these communities around from deserts of hopelessness, limited resources, crisis driven and instability, effective teams at the grass root level must be nurtured to ensure that communities can remain focused on improving the quality of life of all residents.

The primary focus of this training is to strengthen inner city community leaders through learning how to put effective teams for outreach. Within this training module,
Community Outreach: What Does It Look Like?, participants will learn what is Outreach, how to put a team together, community profile and strategic planning and much, much, much more…
