Port Washington Road Update I 7/6/12

Casey Project Supervisor sent the following:

This project consists of the complete reconstruction of the roadway and sidewalks and improvements to the storm sewer inlets and manholes between Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Olive Street.  The project is to be constructed in two stages.  In Stage (I) we will be reconstructing the southbound lanes, sidewalks and intersections, during this stage only northbound traffic will be provided a travel lane.  In Stage (II) we will be reconstructing the Northbound roadway, sidewalks and intersections, during this stage only southbound traffic will be provided a travel lane.  If everything goes well and the weather cooperates we expect the reconstruction of both Stages to be complete by late September 2012.

Currently the first stage of the project is on schedule with removal of the old roadway complete to just north of Abert Place.

Of note is that a temporary one lane access has been provided across Port Washington Rd. at Abert Place.  Local residents will be able cross at this point until we begin concrete placement, at which time traffic will not be allowed to cross.  When crossing please be careful since construction workers and equipment will still be active in this area.

I will provide updates as the project continues.

Thank You for your patience and understanding as we continue to reconstruct Port Washington Rd.
