Announcement from Alderwoman Coggs re: Work Readiness Program

Mayor Tom Barrett and the Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board are celebrating Workforce Development Month with extended resource room hours and FREE Work Readiness classes.

To support awareness of Workforce Development Month (September), the Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board (MAWIB) has planned activities to give job seekers additional access to services with extended Resource Room hours and added support through scheduled job readiness classes, including interviewing skills and resume writing.

All classes are open to the public. Classes will be held throughout the day and at locations all around Milwaukee......

The MAWIB Resource Room (2342 North 27th Street) is offering extended evening hours until 9:00 pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays this month. The Resource Room is also open to the public.

Next week’s TIN information meeting will be held at Select Milwaukee 3215 W. State Street on Thursday, September 5, 2013 from 9:00am-10:30am.
We have a limited number of slots and for security purposes you must reserve your seat for this meeting by 3:00pm on September 3, 2013.  Please send your full name and organization.
·         Although there is gated parking, participants are asked to park on the street.  Please park on State or 33rd Streets.
·         The front door is not accessible and you should enter through the side gate on 33rd Street.
 
About this meeting…
The Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation is pleased to announce an information session for groups and organizations who are interested in applying for Targeted Investment Neighborhood (TIN) designation in their area.
 
What is a Targeted Investment Neighborhood (TIN)
·         The TIN initiative is designed to sustain and increase owner-occupancy, provide high quality affordable rental housing, strengthen property values, and improve the physical appearance and quality of life of neighborhoods.
